This data collection form is designed to be completed daily to capture Trust based information on a macro level, mainly admission referrals and other information that cannot be captured on the ward level. The defined datasets are completed by bed management and Health Based Placed of Safety (HBPoS) teams within each mental health trust. To reduce the time spent by staff on completing this process, the relevant bed information from all wards related to the Mental Health Trust are automatically collated and factored into the data submission.
The data automatically collated from the wards and fed into the data capture form are as follows:
- Core Bed Base
- Empty Beds
- Section 136 – Core Bed Base
- Section 136 – Currently Empty
- Fit For Discharge
- Completed Discharges
- Beds Closed To Admission
- Infection Control
- Number Of Adult Patients In Trust Beds From Outside Of The Trust (All ages)
Trust teams are expected to secure arrangements within their organisations for these data collections and submissions to be completed accurately and timely, in and outside of normal office hours, and across national or celebratory/seasonal holidays.
These submissions inform shared situational awareness of pressure across the region, oversight of regional bed availability and regional section 136 bed availability (through the associated dashboards) as well as the individual Trust related demand and capacity data. It is critical therefore that data is of a high quality, contemporaneous, and updated in line with submission time and frequency requirements.
